Expo 2015: the best of cinema

In Cinema

Pochi, smarriti dentro enormi edifici in costruzione.

Expo: The best of Cinema

ERMANNO OLMI. He is the number one testimonial of Expo 2015. It’s been 30 years since his documentary “Milano 83”, in which a dynamic and active city appeared, while today he dedicated the shooting of a dozen of not commented minutes to our planet. The images show us seas, rivers, deserts and swamps, forests and cities, rain and snow, insects, lizards and birds, a satellite orbiting around Earth and a shoe lying on a shore (maybe a subliminal hint to the landing of refugees?). And also men, just a few of them lost in enormous and unfinished buildings. We can watch their works though: the opening of a sluice letting water flow and irrigate a field and a loaf of bread kneaded and baked. Italian cinema is quoted by both, Emma Gramatica who shelters a newborn from under a large leaf and the homeless’ anthem from the film directed by Vittorio De Sica, “Miracolo a Milano”. Olmi’s short film will be projected every night from 8 p.m. at the Slow Food Theatre in Piazza della Biodiversità at Rho-Expo.
